Over the Mountain and through the woods...

...To Perkins we go!

Today, Matt and I decided we wanted a good breakfast. So, we loaded the girls up in the car, and off we went! An hour and a half later, we ended up at Perkins in Ellensburg! It was so worth it! We have never been very far east before via car, so it was really neat to see the mountains and--ack--that white stuff that us Western Washingtonians haven't seen this year--snow!

It was a really pretty drive and the girls handled it very well. Brooke was a little resistant when we first left, but soon she took a little nap. Shortly after, Annika was snoozing too. Too bad for them--the scenery was breathtaking! It was also very interesting to see how much different the weather was on the other side of the Cascades. At our house it was near 60 degrees and sunny....when we got to the mountains, it was very cloudy and dark--and about 40 degrees. And once we got home again, it was still sunny and 60. Amazing! The landscape was cool also--while at Snoqualmie Pass (about 25 miles from our house), there were slopes (complete with skiers and ski lifts) and mountainous terrain, and then, about 30 miles beyond that, it was as flat as can be! It really reminded us of the Badlands.

Matt and I eat got breakfast--his Tremendous 12, and a Granny's Omelet for me, Annika had chocolate chip pancakes--she loved them! (perhaps too much--she was SO hyper on the way home!) Of course, we had to pick up a few Chicken Tender Melts (now known as "Chicken Crisp Melts") for home. Matt and I enjoyed ours immensely this evening, while we still have one in the fridge for my boss (Stacey) at work. I am not sure if it is going to survive the weekend though...

All in all, it was a great time to spend the day, with my 3 favorite people in the world, eating the best breakfast in the world. I am sure we will do again, as it was soooo the three hour round-trip drive!
