Snowphobia!

Well, it happened here. As a prior post stated, it snowed. A little. A wee little. I never understood why people freak about it so much here, but now I can understand. Somewhat. With lack of plows and salt trucks, and only having a few liquid deicers and maybe 3 sand trucks, the roads are treacherous. Living on top of a hill, even I get a little nervous driving.

However, people seem to overreact at the thought of a snowflake landing. Check out this article:

It even makes a comparison to Minnesota! I had to giggle a little. And somehow, I don't understand it - tire chains seem to be a basic way of life here. I have seen a few cars with them - strange, as to me, tire chains are just something I have only heard about - never actually saw them in use. And studded tires? What the heck are those? Oh well, I guess like the nose ring, I need to be Washingtonianized, and purchase some chains for my tires!
