As we all know, 2008 is going to be a record election year. Matt, ever the politics junkie, has been annoyingly excited for quite some time now. Since 2000, he and his buddies have gotten together the night of the election and discuss politics. When I say discuss, I mean very heated arguments. Basically, a few of his buddies and him get in a room with a 3+ TVs, at least 1 computer per person--often more--and lots of caffeine to watch the returns. This has become quite a tradition with each election the set up has gotten more high tech.
Being across the country from his "War Room" buddies, he has been thinking non-stop to devise a way for them to all communicate via web cam, phone, etc the night of election. Of course this would have included a high-cost trip to Best Buy, and an aggravated wife and baby; as Matt gets rather loud when he tries to get his point across. To bypass this, I gave Matt the best (early) 5 year anniversary gift ever (for both of us)--and sending him to Minnesota for War Room 2008!
Matt is flying out at noon on Tuesday and coming back on Thursday. Preparations are underway, and these two pics were taken during the construction of the War Room. Being such a crazy election as it is, I think it was a good idea for Jason to set it up outside this year. Besides that, Jason and Melissa have 2 little girls whom I am sure would lack sleep if the Room were indoors! I have been advised though--this is just the start of it. When complete it will be an election lovers technological paradise!

I didn't let Jason bring a couch outside and talked him out of picking one up off the street - YUCK! But he really wanted comfort as well. It was pretty cool when all was said and done.
